Your Pet Can Bed and Breakfast in Scotland Too!

Your Pet Can Bed and Breakfast in Scotland Too!

By Ruth M

Don’t you despair when you suddenly realise a problem that has perhaps haunted you, for perhaps years, is easily solved and the answer has been staring you in the face? We all do. The joy is when you find the solution.

Here in my small bed and breakfast in Blairgowrie, Perthshire, Scotland I get many enquiries asking if I take pets. Since I refurbished the house a couple of years ago I decided on a ‘no pets allowed’ policy but I always feel guilty when saying ‘No’ and more so because I do not know anyone in the area who accepts pets these days. Having been a dog owner in the past myself, I understand the emotional stress of leaving your pet behind when you go off on holiday. Of course if you are going abroad then this solution is not suitable, but for those holidaying within the UK, perhaps it is one to be considered.

Suddenly, the other month, I realised a solution for dogs and cats. Across the road from my house is a cattery and within a few minutes drive a kennels. Why don’t I suggest people bring their pets, book them into the respective ‘pet home’ and the humans stay with me, I thought. That way everyone is happy and the family can have their pet with them during the daytime if they so wish.

In this area there are quite a few businesses which cater for pet accommodation and I know many are very busy at certain times of year. But so are many bed and breakfasts. If you want a quality place for your pet then you have to plan the accommodation with the same effort as you plan your own. Choose your pet’s holiday home with as much care as you choose your own. Ask questions if the website does not provide the answers. A good pet home will be happy to answer any question relating to the wellbeing of your adored cat or dog. If in any doubt move on until you find somewhere which you feel will suit your needs. After all, you would do exactly the same for yourself wouldn’t you?

With the internet at your fingertips there is no reason whatsoever that you and your pet cannot have a stress free holiday in Scotland.

Holiday in November in the Florida Sunshine

December 19, 2008 in Airline Travel by Julaluk

Holiday in November in the Florida Sunshine

By : Philip Howard

Most families save for months, sometimes years, to be able to afford their trip of a life to Florida when there really is no need.

November is one of the best months to go to Florida for a number of reasons and hopefully you will be able to afford it as opposed to breaking the bank or running up a massive credit card bill.

The following lists five good reasons to go to Florida in November and have the time of your life.

1. Flights are so cheap in November that it would work out more economical to travel to Florida than it would to the only hot alternatives like Tenerife or Lanzarote. A last minute booking with many airlines are as low as ?130 per adult for flight and car.

2. There are that many villas for rent in Florida, full stop, and at this time of the year villa owners, are not quite begging for your business, but are more than happy to offer you a great deal for the rental of a beautiful holiday home. Some are as low as ?350 per week; this is for the rental of the villa NOT PER PERSON, which includes all taxes and end of vacation cleaning.

3. The Theme Parks are probably the main reason families choose to go to Florida with a round of golf coming a close second. So starting with the attractions; the queues are much shorter than that in the height of the season and more bearable too. You can spend as much as two days in one theme park in August as opposed to visiting two separate ones within the same time in November. Two weeks is “Never enough time” for most first, second or even third time visitors to Florida, so the more of it you have the more you can fit in to keep all the family happy. Now for the golf; prices vary due to the weather and time of day. For example the most expensive time to play is early morning because the majority of golfers want to play in cooler conditions and this is the only time of day it is cool enough in the height of summer. November, however, is perfect to play all day and teeing off at noon doesn’t leave you exhausted once you have played 18 holes and the cost is a lot lower than playing at 7am in August.

New Airport Boost For Andorra Ski Holidays And Property

New Airport Boost For Andorra Ski Holidays And Property

By : Roger Munns

Andorra has been transformed in the past forty years to a vibrant independent State, sought after by the wealthy for her tax haven status, and skiers for her ski runs that match the best in Europe for facilities and ski holidays infrastructure.

The one drawback that Andorra has had is the distance from a major airport, two and a half hours drive to Barcelona in Spain or Toulouse in France, with some ski holidays starting with a night in one of Barcelona hotels before setting off for Andorra.

But that is set to change with agreement for an aiport to be built just fifteen minutes drive from the Spanish / Andorra border.

As well as the extra ski tourists the new airport will impact Andorra as a tax haven. Andorra and the more famous Monaco are Europe’s leading tax havens, with residents enjoying the benefit of no income tax. Property prices in Andorra are less than a third of the price of Monaco’s.

Commenting on the new airport, one Andorra estate agent who specialises in Andorra property for sale thinks that the prices of Andorra properties will rise.

‘At the moment Monaco has the advantage of being ten minutes away from an international airport by helicopter, while Andorra is over two hours. With that advantage gone we anticipate more people considering a tax haven will consider Andorra, with a resulting appreciation in property prices.’

Property in Andorra has risen an average of ten per cent a year in recent years, with three streams of buyers – the local market, buyers for ski holiday homes who are often on a Crystal Ski holiday and like Andorra enough to buy a holiday home, plus those looking for a tax haven.

The airport is to be located in Seu d’Urgell, and the first flights are anticipated to be in 2010 or 2011, with a runway of 4,500 feet – not long enough for some medium range aircraft, and it is likely that most commercial airlines using the airport will be 60 to 80 seaters, plus private jets much favoured by the wealthy who might now consider Andorra as a viable tax haven.

As well as being welcomed by the property business in Andorra, a new airport has been greeted enthusiastically by the skiing industry.

The country has upgraded facilities in recent years, and often competes as a top ski destination in Europe, with well known ski companies like Crystal Ski operating holidays for the British market.

In recent years the number of tourists for the Andorra ski holiday season has topped ten million visitors, and the ski industry is an important part of the country’s economy, with the government investing in new infrastructure to help tempt visitors back for skiing for repeat visits.

But last year was the worst season for decades as the snow, which normally falls from end October, didn’t arrive until mid March, and the first drop in the number of ski holidays in Andorra being sold by British and other European travel agents dropped from the previous ski season for some years.

The new airport cutting travelling time from the UK, one of the Andorra ski holiday’s main markets, could boost the occupancy levels of hotels in Andorra significantly.

‘When people are considering a ski holiday in Andorra’, comment one travel guide, ‘At the moment to reach Soldeu, one of Andorra top ski villages, it’s two and a half hours from Barcelona to the capital la Vella, and then another twenty minutes on top of that – nearly a three hour trip after a flight. Cutting down resort arrival time from three to one hour will be enough to influence some people’s decision on where to visit.’

Recent investment by the government has reached several million Euros designed to keep the country in line with other European winter destinations, and intended to make Andorra a natural choice for the ski and snowboard fraternity, the addition of an airport close to her border could help ensure that.

Reasons to Buy Property in Spain

Reasons to Buy Property in Spain

Air Travel article brought to you by Scott James

If you are after unlimited sunshine, unlimited beautiful beaches, truly wonderful food, a wide choice of entertainment, and a wide choice of homes at affordable prices, then you will find Spain hard to resist. Although the vast majority of holiday makers (and residents) come to Spain to laze about on the beach, there’s much more to the country than the Costas and its islands .

Spain offers infinite variety with something for everyone, including terrific beaches for sun seekers and unbelievable scenery with tremendous views and wonderful mountain walks. For those who wish a more urban based life there are some of the most sophisticated cities to be found anywhere. For food lovers, you will find some of the best food to be found anywhere and wine to match.

To buy a home in Spain is not just to buy a dwelling but your chance to buy a lifestyle, and as a place for your holiday, second or retirement home, Spain is unrivalled, particularly if you’re seeking year-round sunshine.

So, why buy in Spain?

You can come up with a number of reasons why you would want to buy a home in Spain , although it’s important not to fool yourself or try and manufacture something that isn’t there with regards to what you can expect. Be consistent and realistic about what you can expect, ask fundamental question about what it is exactly that you want from a home in Spain? For example, is it a second home, holiday home or retirement dwelling that you wish to buy?

The south eastern Mediterranean coast of Spain has the highest percentage of retired persons in the world, when both Spaniards and foreigners are included. If you’re seeking a second home, what exactly will you want to use it for and how long will you wish to stay there? Do you plan to rent all or a portion of it to offset mortgage and operations costs? If that is the case, how essential to the overall plan is the property rental income? Is the decision to buy purely based on investment criteria? Do you plan to work or start a business in Spain? These are questions that need answers no matter where you purchase , but especially in Spain because of the variety of choices Spain has to offer.

Quite often potential buyers have a number of reasons for purchasing property in Spain. For example, many people buy a holiday home with an idea of living there permanently or semi-permanently after they retire. In a lot of cases the motivation is to start by purchasing a holiday home with the intention of retiring there later on. If this is the case, there are many more factors to take into account than if you were simply buying a holiday home that you will occupy for just a few weeks a year. If, on the other hand, you plan to work or start a business in Spain, you will be faced with a whole different set of criteria. You may be thinking of buying a home in Spain and commuting to another European country to work. More and more people are now doing that as they find that Spain has much more to offer nowadays.

Whatever the reasons for buying a home within Spain whether purely for residential or investment purposes, life in modern day Spain makes it such a difficult option to refuse.

Ski Holidays In Andorra Fly With New Airport

Air Travel article brought to you by Andorra

Opening an airport close to an established tourist destination will normally mean a boost in tourism – but when the established airport is nearly three hours away and the new one fifteen minutes it’s almost bound to see a higher than normal increase in holiday makers.

And that’s exactly what is happening to Andorra, the tiny tax haven set in the European Pyrenees, and home to some of the best ski runs in Europe.

Up to now a drawback that Andorra has had is the distance from a major airport, two and a half hours drive to Barcelona in Spain or Toulouse in France, with some ski holidays starting with a night in one of the Barcelona hotels before setting off for Andorra.

An Inexpensive Holiday Home

An Inexpensive Holiday Home

By Jack S. Blacksmith

If you own a home, you can be part of the growing network of home exchange systems. It does not have to be the same kind of a house, and it is easy to find exchange partners. You just pick homes that are comfortable for you and your family,
and then try to find the home whose owners would like to vacation in your area. Voila! Instant holiday home. Many times people who frequently do home exchanges are open to almost any location that is interesting. Besides the financial savings, you also have the advantage of having someone in your home while you are away. You also see to it that your home exchanger’s home is watched over during their absence.

Traveling is fun but can be expensive. Even if you are able to get cheap airfare, it can be really expensive to stay in a
hotel and eat out at restaurants all the time, especially if you are travelling with your family. Home exchanges offer
a great solution. They are not very well known, so people don’t really know what a great advantage they can be. Let us
say you would like to go to England but when you checked the hotel rates you were shocked at how expensive they were. But if you were able to locate a family in England and use their home, your lodging would be free. This kind of a house swap is a win on both sides.

Exchanging one’s home is not that well known, but it is growing in popularity. They are especially desirable in large
cities. Veteran home exchangers recruit their friends to help out the exchanging party by meeting them, explaining the
house, and giving them ideas about what to see and do in the area. Don’t forget, the owners won’t be there because they
will be travelling to your home. This idea works whether you are traveling alone or with your family; you can exchange
an apartment or an entire house. Many times, you can find a swap that is a perfect match. For instance, if you have a

family with small children, perhaps you could find another family with small children and all of their toys, video games,
etc. will be waiting for them. Living right in the residential neigborhoods of a country is a great way to learn about
and enjoy the culture.

Retirees especially love to do home exchanges because they do not have many restrictions on when they can travel. When
you do a home exchange, your airfare is just about your only expense if you are able to exchange vehicles as well. This
is a big savings since you will not have to rent a car-just pay for the gas. If your exchange partner likes animals, you
can also save money by leaving your pet home and not having to board him.
Surprisingly, insurance companies are in favor of home exchanges, since it means your home is not empty, vulnerable to thieves. You should clarify this with your insurance company to make sure that your exchange partners will be covered while they stay in your home.

Many people may worry about having strangers in their home, but you can get to know the exchangers ahead of time. Email and phone one another and maybe even consider exchanging pictures to get to know one another. You should take advantage of these contacts to exchange information about your home and region. Make sure you ask a lot of questions and are clear about what each side thinks they are getting. You can also ask for references for further assurance. Do whatever it takes to be comfortable about leaving your home and everything in it in strangers’ hands.

Most experiences by home exchangers has been positive, but there have been cases where the expectations were not met on one side or the other, or if one of the parties damaged the home of the other.

Despite all of the advantages of home exchange, free accomodations, free vehicles, free pet and house sitting, laundry facilities and inexpensive meals at home, the most important thing is that you feel comfortable with your home exchange partners before you decide to take this step.

Being particularly interested in apartments to let benidorm, Jack Blacksmith is writing many online reports on the topic. Recording his experience in detailed writings on apartments to let benidorm and apartments to rent in benidorm the columnist affirmed his know-how on the topic.

Booking a Self Catering Holiday Home For Your Summer Vacation

December 11, 2008 in Vacation Homes by Julaluk

Booking a Self Catering Holiday Home For Your Summer Vacation

By Harwood E Woodpecker

Once more we are approaching that time of year where we all consider our options for the annual two week family vacation, where to go and where to stay when we get there. With the growth of the on line travel industry over the past few years we are more spoiled for choice than ever before on where to stay and with the increase in the number of low cost airlines that are now flying all over the world we have an even greater number of destinations and resorts open to us. One sector that has really benefited from the development of the on line travel industry is self catering holiday homes which are generally privately owned. In the past the only way that you could find these self catering holiday homes was by word of mouth from a friend or acquaintance or by thumbing through the pages of a travel magazine. The growth of the inter web has benefited both the owners of the self catering holiday homes and the traveller as these are more easily accessed than ever before. So what are the benefits of booking a self catering holiday home for your annual summer vacation?

Booking your vacation has become more and more popular over the past few years as people realise how easy it is to actually do as well as how much money you can save by doing so. Booking a self catering holiday home is no different. The first thing you need to decide is where you want to go for you annual vacation as well as the duration of your stay. If you want to make your holiday as cheap as possible you can always look at where the low cost airlines fly to and then plan your vacation around one of those resorts.

Choosing the type of self catering holiday home that suits your family needs is the next task. If you have an idea in your head of how many bedrooms you are going to need to accommodate your family then you can narrow the search down considerably. A few other points worth noting when looking for your self catering holiday home is whether or not you would need accommodation with a pool, if you are a considerable distance from the nearest beach it might be an idea to go for a home with a pool, if you are within walking distance of a beach it may not be so critical.

If you are going to be booking a self catering holiday home the chances are that at some point during your vacation you will need to do some cooking to feed you family unless of course you intend eating out every night. If you do intend cooking you should check to see that the kitchen in the accommodation is fully equipped with all of the appliances that you will need, a cooker with a hob and a refrigerator are necessities whereas a dish washer is nice but a luxury. It is also worth checking to see if you can find accommodation with a washing machine especially if you have a young family.

Booking yourself a self catering holiday home for your family vacation gives you so many options and is much more flexible than staying in a hotel or apartment block for two weeks. If you manage to get the accommodation that suits all of your requirements and is in the correct location there is no reason at all why you should not have a very economical and fun vacation this year.

Booking Your Vacation Online – Booking A Private Holiday Home

Booking Your Vacation Online – Booking A Private Holiday Home

By Harwood E Woodpecker

For many of us taking our annual two week summer vacation is the highlight of the year, having made it through the long cold winter months, fighting off illness after illness and putting up with cold dark mornings and nights when we get to the warmer months of the year we feel as though we have earned the right to have a bit of a relax on the beach and enjoy some quality time with the family. Over the past 15-20 years the holiday market has changed greatly, with the greatest changes coming in the past 10 years mainly thanks to the growth of the internet and the rise in popularity of the low cost airlines that now fly to so many popular destinations. Because of these changes the way we book and take our vacations has evolved from being a trip down to the local travel agent to see what deals were available to being able to book our vacation ourselves directly with the accommodation and the airline. So with more vacation options available to us than ever before where should we look to book our vacation to this year?

In years gone by the most popular holiday accommodation was the hotel complex with a pool but now more and more people are moving away from this conventional holiday accommodation and are looking to book themselves and their family a private holiday home away from the masses of tourists that invade many resorts each year.

The benefits of booking a private holiday home are numerous but the main attraction for many families is the versatility that a private holiday home allows you as well as the peace and quiet that you will generally get when staying away from the tourist throngs. Many private holiday homes tend to be out of town properties that offer great access to both the surrounding countryside as well as all of the local amenities as well as having more facilities than your average holiday hotel room.

Depending on what you are looking for in a holiday home you will generally be able to find something to meet you needs by searching on the inter web for a property that perfectly suits the needs of your family, whether it be the number of bedrooms that you require, a larger kitchen or a swimming pool, by comparing the properties available at your chosen destination you should be able to find a private holiday home that both suits your pocket and your requirements.

Many of the private holiday homes that are available for rent are owned by families that themselves use the property throughout the year and then rent it out when they do not require it, these are always a better option to go for than a holiday home that is just solely for rent and not used by the owners as they will usually have all of the creature comforts that you would expect of a holiday home rather than being a basic holiday dwelling.

Finding your ideal private holiday home is easy if you use the inter web and does away with having to rely on a travel agent to sort your holiday for you, all you need to do is make contact with the property owner and sort out your flights, which is now much easier than in the past, and there you have a ready made holiday that exactly matches your requirements.

Buy Villas in Cyprus – An All Year Round Investment

Buy Villas in Cyprus – An All Year Round Investment

By Tim Martins

If you are looking at property investment, a holiday home or just somewhere new to live, well Cyprus probably tops the list both for today and for the future. Ever since Cyprus became a complete member of the EU it’s economic growth has progressed steadily, resulting in it’s rising popularity. The foreign resident population has developed in a big way forcing up property values as it becomes clear that it is a very special place to live in. It really is a dream come true opportunity as far as property investment is concerned and recently it was claimed to be becoming the Florida of Europe.

Cyprus possesses a whole range of resources due to its ideal location and almost perfect climate. The EU has also meant that Cyprus had been opened up to improved communications, transport and trade, in fact the EU is responsible for half of it’s trade. It also boasts nearly 3 million tourists per year and just from the EU and it’s close connection with the Middle East and Africa has also made it an even more interesting place to make property investments.

The real estate sector has been on the climb now for several years and as far as the experts are concerned it won’t be tailing off in the years to come. Construction on the island is growing day by day as supply is still being outstretched by demand. The present really is the ideal time to invest as prices will continue to rise, so don’t leave it too long. We can compare the present conditions to those experienced in Spain about 20 years ago, so now you have something to use as a guide to your property investments in Cyprus.

The good news for property investors is that there are still many villas available both resale and new build. You will find a varied choose in both Estate Agent and Developers and all more than anxious to help you, so make sure you get well informed before you start to tackle with these guys.

Cyprus is also an ideal location due to the fact that the locals all speak English, so you can happily get by in your own language. You will also be supported by English speaking solicitors so you will always understand exactly what you are signing. If your are from the UK then you will also feel at home as their legal system is almost the same and something else of interest, they drive on the left hand side of the road.

There are two big differences though for non-residents in Cyprus, the first being that you are only entitled to own one property although changes to this rule are in the pipeline. The second is that the final title deeds can take up to five years before you receive them although this would not be a reason to set you back from selling on the property before they are ready. If you need more information on property investment in Cyprus then take a look at the blog on the link below and you will find everything you need.

Buying a Holiday Villa – Good Advice on How to Research the Holiday Villa Market

Buying a Holiday Villa – Good Advice on How to Research the Holiday Villa Market

By Andy Gibson

Buying a holiday villa at the time seemed like a good idea; Lots of sun, good food, cheap flights and best of all no Christmas with the mother-in-law. We spent several months on the internet researching the market and narrowing down which part of the world we wanted our dream holiday villa in. Pretty quickly all of the family agreed that it had to be Florida but not a typical rental home that we usually stayed in.

Two weeks later, we had booked flights to Florida and we decided to make the holiday villa search a holiday as well. We were armed with a list of villas and communities that we wanted to look at, in and around the Orlando area. Orlando was the preferred choice due to it having good weather all year round, a large international airport and all of the Theme Parks.

The Theme Parks were essential as they would always provide visitor numbers to Orlando and in theory keep up the price of the properties. The kids thought that they were essential for the rides!

We based ourselves south of Orlando in a rental holiday villa in a small gated community. It was maybe a little too far out but our enthusiasm for the task ahead quickly solved that problem. Armed with our dream wish list and the list of communities that we had already selected from the internet, we began our holiday home search.

The first problem that we encountered was that all of the villas that we were looking at looked and felt the same. It was soon obvious that there were plenty of houses to choose from but they were all ‘much of a much’ feeling. We soon realized that a standard house with swimming pool would be great for a few weeks but that after a while the kids would get bored and then the moaning and bickering would start. We then altered our priorities and put a holiday home in a community lived in by Americans as our top priority.

The boys are keen golfers and they wanted a house on a golf course. My youngest daughter wanted plenty of swimming pools and slides and my wife wanted good restaurants. I wanted peace and quiet both from a surrounding point of view and also a non feuding family point of view!

We were then quickly able to eliminate most of the properties from our wish list and were left with only more place to look it. The place in question was called Reunion. It was thirty minutes away from Orlando International Airport, a few minutes away form Disney and all the other theme parks and just off the I4. So far so good, as it ticked all of the first lot of boxes.

When we drove into the site we had to enter through a manned gate house with a beautiful landscaped area around it with amazing flowers. Yet another box ticked as this would provide security for the children and give us peace of mind that the property would be safe when we were back in the U.K.

We soon discovered that the community had two golf courses and that a third one was nearing completion. This totally swung it for the boys who were immediately hooked. Mike, the sales guy, then took us up to the Water Park that was nearing completion. That was my daughter hooked and when he said that they would soon be opening a riding stables she was totally adamant that this was the place for her.

My wife loved the Club House and the beautiful swimming pool at Seven Eagles. It was now Mike’s turn to convince me and he did not let me down. The first house that Mike showed us we all fell in love with. It had five bedrooms, balcony and its own swimming pool. Forty five minutes later I had filled in all of the paper work and left a deposit.

We then returned to the U.K and transferred the funds over completing on the house in a matter of weeks. Job done. Everybody happy. It went like clockwork and the best advice that I can give to anybody considering buying a holiday villa abroad is to do all of your research before you go there and do not compromise.
